The pumpkin flesh should be free of soft spots which can invite mold and rot. If you're planning to use your pumpkin for carving, choose one that's big enough. Make sure the base is solid and the stem is intact also, don't carry it by the stem - it might break off. If your pumpkin is destined for a pie, choose a small one grown especially for eating. Once you get your fresh-picked pumpkin home, "cure" it by keeping it undisturbed in a cool, dark place.

A general store serves up homemade BBQ and hot dogs. Let Freedom Ring! America, the Beautiful, the corn maze, features an outline of the United States. Inside are paths for 10 major rivers in the USA. You can also see one of the historical icons of America, the Liberty Bell, in the design.
Also included are educational signs about beautiful landmarks in the United States at the passport posts in the maze. There are 10 spots where you see numbered posts. Guests carry a trivia passport on a topic of their choice and a correct answer gives a clue about which way to turn.
But this year, you can play on your smartphone or create your own trivia card. There is new playground equipment for the kids as well as plenty of pumpkins and a great corn maze. A Discovery Barn has a petting zoo, two 60 ft tunnel slides, and a loft hay play area.
A picnic area has grills available, and an evening bonfire tops off the evening. Refreshments are available. This year, the event will take place on our new property, where we are currently holding the Corn Maze and Pumpkin Patch.
